Promoted Colorado as a tourism, convention and business relocation destination:

  • Organized conferences and group programs for traveling professionals
  • Advised media representatives and members of the travel industry on tourist attractions, cultural activities, living conditions and political climate
  • Participated in trade shows, informing media representatives and conference planners of Colorado’s travel offerings
  • Composed press releases and promotional brochures
  • Organized and maintained effective network and cooperative working relationships with radio, television, print media contacts

Promoted Colorado’s minority-owned enterprises:

  • Published an annual directory of minority-owned businesses in Colorado
  • Guest speaker and panel member for numerous community groups dealing with small business, marketing and economic development
  • Coordinated annual awards banquets underwritten by corporate sponsors saluting outstanding businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals

Founded and served as Chairman of the Board of the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Independently developed successful marketing plans for-profit and not-for-profit organizations
  • Recruited, trained and supervised staff, sales and marketing personnel
  • Successfully managed the planning and implementation of numerous projects, including budget and profit and loss responsibilities
  • Compiled and published a Speakers Directory
  • Designed and developed telemarketing programs for sales organizations
  • Built and maintained a client database for three service oriented organizations in the areas of:  Directory Publishing, Tourism and Convention Marketing and Consulting

SELECTED PROJECTS

  • Conducted a disparity study for a major city to ascertain the availability and utilization of minority and women-owned businesses
  • Conducted a disparity study for the Denver, Colorado Housing Authority and designed a contracting and procurement program to increase the utilization of minority and women-owned enterprises
  • Conducted a base closing study for Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado and developed a reuse plan for the military facility
  • Developed a plan for business and enterprise creation for public housing residents moving from welfare to work for the Atlanta Housing Authority
  • Served as an Economic Development Consultant to the Housing Research Foundation,Washington D.C., to review and make recommendations on the Hope VI Community Revitalization Plan for the St. Louis Housing Authority
  • Provided economic development consulting seminar to the Housing Research Foundation in examining the business development program of the Kansas City Housing Authority in connection with the Hope VI Revitalization Project
  • Managed a project to train and secure Georgia State certification for asbestos and lead paint remediation workers.  The project was funded by the U.S. Army and conducted under the auspices of the Clark Atlanta University Science Research Center
  • Georgia State Administrator and licensed instructor for the Fast Trac entrepreneurship training program.  Conducted training sessions for public housing residents in the welfare-to-work program for the Atlanta Housing Authority
  • Administered a summer youth entrepreneurship training program directed by the NAACP and sponsored by the Reginald F. Lewis Foundation
  • Developed a model Mentor-Protégé program for the Coca-Cola Company
  • Developed and organized the Franchise Diversity and Development Institute to provide education, training, and technical assistance to minorities in the franchise industry
  • Designed a Minority Construction Contractors Resource Center to provide technical assistance and capacity building services for contractors
  • Conducted a youth entrepreneurship training program from the City of Macon, Georgia Workforce Development
