Assist in the creation of an inclusive academic environment that is supportive to the success of the College’s educational mission. Provide advisory and collaborative functions within the College. Maintain open communication with the University’s Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity. Advise and provide leadership to the College’s multicultural student organizations. Develop, coordinate, and produce the College’s campus-wide diversity program series. Maintain community partnerships that assist and support the College’s multicultural and international student. Develop, coordinate, and implement programs and services designed to enhance the retention of multicultural students, including the FastStart Altoona program. Design, develop, and implement professional training programs and services to the Altoona community and the broader Tri-County vicinity. Also within existing procedures, serve as a resource for mediation of grievances involving students that impact their academic progress. Responsible for program participant enrollment process, the development of an individual academic plan for 30 – 55 participants’ freshmen and sophomore students, retention, and case management. Provide academic, financial, personal and career development counseling services to include a variety of workshops, tutoring and supplemental instruction activities designed to help program students achieve satisfactory to above average academic progress. Designed, developed, and implemented a Mentoring Partnership component to enhance participating student’s access and employability skills, and their successful transition from college to industry.

Plan, organize, and direct a wide range of training activities Consult with onsite senior management regarding available performance improvement services and conduct orientation sessions and arrange on-the-job training for mid-level managers. Help mid-level managers maintain and improve their managerial skills, and possibly prepare for positions requiring greater skill. Assist mid-level managers improve technical, interpersonal, managerial skills in order to deal effectively with unit employees. Set up individualized training plans to strengthen mid-level managers’ existing skill or teach new ones.
